Digital Wonderland

Digital Wonderlab is an award-winning B Corp agency that uses technology to create a positive impact — building digital products that improve lives, empower communities, and contribute to a better future. Their work spans strategy, websites, apps, and software, all crafted with a people-first mindset.

As part of their brand refresh, the team — led by my contact Dan — approached me to develop a bespoke set of illustrations that would form the foundation of their new visual language. These illustrations weren’t just decorative — they were designed to tell the story of who they are, how they work, and what they stand for.

Bespoke illustrations for a brand with heart

The brief was clear but ambitious: create a distinct isometric style that felt clean, human, and unlike anything found on stock sites. The illustrations needed to express a wide range of ideas — from internal processes to the broader brand values of collaboration, creativity, inclusivity, and openness. At the same time, the visual style had to be soft and tactile, with simple shapes, no gradients, and a colour palette dominated by neutrals with selective use of brand colours.

Visualising the World of Wonderlab

The work was split into two categories:

  • World of Wonder: Used on dark backgrounds, these illustrations represent Digital Wonderlab’s inner world — the behind-the-scenes magic where thinking, building, and problem-solving happen.
  • Transitional illustrations: Designed for white backgrounds, these connect the inner world with the real-world impact of their work — helping to transition visually from the process to the outcome.

The result is a set of visuals that feel technical yet approachable, imaginative yet grounded — a fitting expression of a brand that’s both thoughtful and bold.

This project was a great example of what happens when a clear brief meets creative freedom. Working closely with Dan and the Wonderlab team was a joy — and watching these illustrations become core assets across their brand has been a real highlight.
